I am foremost an artist. I work in an art form called “Morph-aesthetic”. If you are a confused art history buff it is because I made it up. Morph-aesthetic is best described as art in life and decision. Basically I try to approach everything I do as an art. With the integrity, precision of craft, and beauty that one expects from most works of art. Admittedly, I have not been that successful in terms of relationships however this project that is my life is a work in progress.

Specifically in terms of my woodwork, I consider myself first a creative problem solver, then an interior designer and finally a skilled woodworker. Often people come to me with a piece they want built. After a short discussion it becomes clear that the object they desire was meant to solve a certain problem in their living or work space, and the work I do solves it. Beyond that, the designs I offer are first and foremost designs, then I set out to see them become a reality. This often requires a lot of ingenuity in the problem-solving arena especially when stacked up against my unrelenting standards for strength, and functionality.

Concerning the look-and-feel of my work both my environmental conscience and aesthetic lead me towards old wood and building techniques that can last many generations. I like to include lighting and electronics in my work because they usually require the anal sort of precision that produces many design sheets which I enjoy drawing. Also lighting in my opinion is a great way to show off a space and lighting is an often under-developed potential in most interiors.
